Day 5 Details

I forgot to mention yesterday that they replaced the trim around our sliding glass door. That makes me feel really good because the trim that was there previously was the result of my attempt to fix the rotting trim that was there before. It had been an improvement, but was a source of personal embarrassment because, well, I’m not a carpenter.

The work today was paying attention to the details, and there are probably some details that I didn’t even notice. Here are some of the details I did notice.

Trim and cladding was added in several places. There’s a bit more trim on the side living room window, though one side is still not done. I imagine that’s either because there is still some puzzle to work out, or maybe the workers are waiting for their solution to a problem to be inspected before closing it up. I’m sure they will work it out and it will be great.

One piece of trim was added to the garage back door, and I can see how much nicer it’s going to look.

The question I had about what would happen with the corner where the facade wall was removed has been answered both verbally and visually. Siding that was removed when the gable vents were eliminated has been used to patch the space where the bricks were removed. As you can see, they also finished cladding the roof corner, so it’s looking very nice.

There has been a bit more soffit work done too.

The last time I took a photo of the new siding on the garage, it was as the sun was already going down, so it was in shadow. I took more pictures in noon daylight to give a better representation of the color. There was also some siding added to the walls around the garage doors, and they finished cladding the trim on the gable of the garage.
