Getting Started
We arrived in Phoenix yesterday. It was one of those standard days of hurry up and wait. We picked up our rental car — a gray, Chevy Impala — and drove to our motel room at the Super 8 Motel in Chandler. After settling in we drove off to meet the man who will be working on Martha’s oboe. While she was chatting with him, I was on the phone with Wildland Trekking working out the final details for our Grand Canyon hike.
We then got dinner at a place called El Zocalo Mexican Grille that was walking distance from the oboe place. Martha had the Seared Ahi Tuna Tacos and I had the Mole de Pollo and some lemonade. It was all delicious. We went for a short walk around the area and then drove back to the motel.
That was yesterday. Today is our anniversary and, we are going to go to the Desert Botanical Garden, and the rest of the day’s plans are still in flux. Tomorrow, Martha will need to spend some amount of time working on oboe stuff, so I may need to find ways to amuse myself. The rest of that day we’ll play by ear.
The only camera we had with us was the one in my phone, so that’s the only photo you get for this entry.
