Time to Fly

September 17, 2009
My parents arrived yesterday and now we are waiting for the shuttle to take us to the airport. For the next 16 hours or so it will be all shuttles, airplanes, airports, and cars. A lot of sitting. We’re all excited, but also preparing ourselves for the monotony that must precede the real excitement.

I had to jump through some hoops to change the picture of this page to be a map of the flight to Shannon. The software I use to generate the maps, iPhoto, has suddenly lost the ability to print these to PDF, so I did this one by making a screen capture.

I thought I would have trouble getting to sleep last night, but I actually dropped off pretty fast. Staying asleep was a little more tricky. I woke up periodically through the night, but never for long, so I got plenty of sleep. I hope I can sleep on the plane. I’ll want to be awake and alert when I get there and have to drive on the left side of the road.
